Kiesel Guitars Introduces the Modern J-Bass

Kiesel has updated their JB bass lineup with the MJ, aka Modern J-Bass. The new take removes the pickguard to fully display each bass’s top woods.

“Other changes to modernize the bass include a tasteful top bevel for aesthetics and comfort, our greatest variety of pickups options on a bass, and rear-routed controls to accommodate for more flexibility in control configuration,” they write.

Available in four- and five-string versions, the MJ has standard specs of an alder body, a carbon-fiber reinforced maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard. Through the company’s bass builder, you can choose tons of options. Standard electronics include a pair of JVA Single Coils, but as Kiesel mentioned there you can also upgrade to H50A Alnico Humbuckers, Kiesel’s Radium Single Coils or Humbuckers, or HB Alnico humbuckers. Its preamp is an 18-volt active/preamp configuration with stacked concentric bass and treble frequency/cut and boost knobs.

The Kiesel Guitars Modern J-Bass is available now starting at $1,699.
